Subscription Software - How to Install

It's your comprehensive guide to install our subscription software, netPROFIT Lite. You can multiply your web business with our subscription software at ease. The steps of the installation process are like this:
  1. To begin with, unzip the file that you have downloaded into the root of your web folder. If you do not have physical access to the server, you will need to unzip the file on your computer and then upload all files and folders into your online account with your favorite FTP program.

    a. Example: c:\inetpub\wwwroot

  2. By now, you should have a folder with the unzipped contents in it.
  3. Next you have to ensure that your DATA folder (i.e. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\data\) permissions are set for the IUSR_<machine name> user Read, Write and Delete. Make sure that these changes are incorporated into all the files and folders below it. NOTE: You may need to contact your web host provider and ask them to do this for you.
  4. Next point your browser to the setup.asp file located in top-level folder.

    a. Example: http://www.yourdomain.com/setup.asp

  5. Once you have accepted the terms and conditions, follow the instructions and fill out all the fields on the form.
  6. Once you have finished the above steps you will be presented with a congratulations screen. You've have successfully installed our subscription software.
  7. Once you have successfully installed netPROFIT Lite, it is recommended that you delete the file setup.asp for security reasons.

Setup Instructions - PayPal's IPN
The reason behind setting up your PayPal account with Instant Payment Notification (IPN) is to ensure that your netPROFIT Lite electronic store receives instant notification of a successful payment.

To set up IPN:

  1. Log in to your Business or Premier PayPal account;
  2. Go to the 'Profile' tab;
  3. Click on the 'Instant Payment Notification Preferences' link in the 'Setting Preferences' column;
  4. Click Edit;
  5. Check the box and enter the following URL:

    http://www.yourstore.com/paypal_return.asp

  6. Click Save.

Congratulations! You have now successfully setup your PayPal IPN.

Verification of Notification
You must verify that the email address used as your "PayPalID" as set in the netPROFIT Lite System Settings has been registered and confirmed in your PayPal account. This is the only way to ensure that a payment has been made into your PayPal account.

Integrating netPROFIT Lite into your existing Website

Client Management
View Client
The details of all your clients and their purchases will be at your fingertips. You can take note of the number of downloads of a particular product your clients have attempted with the help of a screen.The download counter does not denote a successful download. It is provided as an indicator only.

Add Client
The moment a client makes a purchase via netPROFIT Lite, the information is automatically loaded into your client database. Add to that, we have allowed you to add new clients directly from the Administration Center.

To add new clients to the system manually, we request you to visit the Add Client option from the menu selections on the left. You are required to enter the client's name and email address. The Country and Unique Payment Gateway ID are optional.

The purchases made via netPROFIT Lite are tracked via the Unique Payment Gateway ID. So, it should not be left blank. When the clients make a purchase, their details will be automatically added again during the purchase process.

Edit Client
This feature enables you to update the details of your existing clients. Please remember that if you change the Unique Payment Gateway ID of a selected client, the purchases made under this ID will not be reflected against the client.

Delete Client
You can delete a client from your database at your will. Actually, you are not barring a customer from making purchases in the future by deleting him. In fact, you are just setting aside his or her current details from the system.

The purchase history of a client will not be erased from the system. The revenue generated and unit sale count will still show the deleted client's purchase. If, in the future, a deleted client makes a future purchase with the same Unique Payment Gateway ID, his or her past purchases will automatically be revived.

The motive behind deleting a client from your system is to ensure that the person will not receive any emails from the system when you select Email All.

Product Management
View All Products
With this option, you can view the list of all products on the main screen. The products are on sale via your netPROFIT Lite. Click on the Product Name for a complete summary of the individual product. The brief description includes:

Name: This is the product name presented to your clients on their receipts.

Description: The brief description of the product that is displayed to your clients on the checkout page.

File Name: This is the actual name of the product that will be presented for download after finishing the successful purchase.

Active Product: This product will be available for purchase and visible on within your netPROFIT Lite store.

Unit Price: The price of the product.

Total Sales: This is the total number of sales for this product that have been processed through your netPROFIT Lite store.

Total Revenue: This is the total revenue that this product has generated through your netPROFIT Lite store.

Add Product
With netPROFIT Lite, you can add abundant amount of products. You can add new products through the Add Product screen. Ensure all fields are completed before pressing the 'Add Product' button to successfully include a new product.

Name: This is the product name presented to your clients on their receipts.

Description: The summary of the product that is displayed to your clients on the checkout page.

File Name: This is the actual name of the product that will be presented for download after the nitty-gritty of successful purchase is over.

Active Product: This product will be available for purchase and visible on your netPROFIT Lite store.

Unit Price: The price of the product.

Edit Product
When you feel the requirement to update the description of your product and the price, you can do it through this page. If you change the sale price of your product, it will not affect the transactions that have taken place in the past.

Delete Product
If needed, you can delete a product permanently from your netPROFIT Lite store with this option. We request you to make the product inactive for a period of one month before deleting it from your database. This will ensure that anybody who has purchased the product recently can still download his or her product. Once the product is deleted, the authorized buyers won't be able to download the product.

Let's put it in this way. You are not removing the record of past transactions by deleting the product. You are only deleting the product itself.
